DUXW Challenge – Day 13

Day 13 of the Daily UX Writing challenge. Yep, I’m still trucking along.

The challenge is as follows:

  • Scenario: A short-haul truck driver has a phone app that monitors their route, schedule, fuel & deliveries.

They have 6 more deliveries before stopping for fuel and lunch. Due to unexpected traffic, they’re behind schedule.

They can choose to stay on their planned route for a few more stops, but risk running low on fuel and missing lunch, or they can get fuel and lunch now and finish the deliveries later.

  • Challenge: Write a push notification alerting them of this dilemma and options.
  • Headline: 30 characters max
  • Body: 45 characters max
  • Button(s): 25 characters max

My thought process

I positioned this app to act as the partner of the truck driver, not simply a tool. I used ‘we’ to emphasize this dynamic, as well as to avoid placing blame on the driver. Traffic is at fault here, not him.

Since this app tracks fuel for the driver, I’ve assumed they know approximately how much gas they have left. They also know what’s best for themselves lunch-wise. Their options are straightforward and simple, so I selected language to match.
